A Few Thoughts on that $500 Medium Bonus (and Other Recent Changes)
A Lot of People Received $500 lately it seems
I’m feeling a particular way about Medium these days. I’m on the fence on whether I want to keep going with Medium, or whether it might be time to let the platform experience go.
A lot has happened on Medium lately. The company released their professional editorial team, had a fairly epic snafu regarding Joe Biden and Porn, and now, they’ve given 1000 writers $500 bonuses.
I was a fan of the decision to let go of the editorial team (not exactly the idea of letting anyone go in the middle of a pandemic, but the decision to move towards an indie writer-focused system). The Joe Biden incident was annoying. The final change was the catalyst for a few thoughts.
Going off of the influx of posts on Medium Facebook Groups that flood my feed daily, it looks like the $500 bonus was a hit.
A lot of people have had a fairly large windfall lately. Along with the typical payments that come during the beginning of the month for Medium Partner Program writers. Writers received $500 payments as a bonus for high engagement, via claps, reads, and views.
